Bangla Folk/rock outfit CHIRKUTT are a busy unit. They seem to be constantly on the road but thanks to their tie up with a sound studio they can also have a steady output of recordings.

The band's comments on Khalash -

Khalash is another magical song from the contemporary folk tale album Maati Geeti. The lyrics, melody and vocals are by the band’s only female lead, Sharmin Sultana Sumi, along with Pavel Areen at Drums and percussion, Emon Chowdhury at Guitar, Jahid Nirob at Harmonium and Newaj at Bass. The song is a beautiful love tale of the natural ordinary lives of people living in Bangladesh in contrast with the dreams they are pursuing everyday for a better living. The song speaks of the human sole and how it seeks to be free and with someone who understands. Through the lyrics of Sumi, the song taps into the human emotions, the one of belongingness.

And on Buka Buka -

BUKA BUKA is the latest folk fusion from Chirkutt, the Global Bangladeshi band. The song is of love and the craving for belongingness found in the all lives of Bangladesh. The languages used in the songs are also the native words of love and romanticism spread across all over the country of Bangladesh. Mix together as one, the whole song connects to the youth and their ever green concept of love.

Lesley Rae Dowling and Tully McCully - a new single

South African songstress Lesley Rae Dowling sent shock waves through the local pop music business with her stunningly individual style of vocal delivery when she came on the scene in the early 1980s.  Her producer Tully McCully wrote Grips of Emotion for her and it hit the charts in January 1982. The follow-up release, her debut album revealed that she was also a serious songwriter. Her song Spaniard was the second single to garner heavy rotation leading to the first album going gold not long afterwards. Visual for the new release featuring Lesley from the time of her debut releases .   Since then Lesley has released about a dozen albums mostly in her home country but she also has releases in Australia and the Benelux. Last month Tully was going through his archive and stumbled on a multi-track tape containing a song she recorded that never made it onto any of Lesley's main album releases and never released digitally, so not available for streaming or download. The track, als...
