The late Louis Ribeiro and Brian Sepel wrote some powerful rock songs in their time together in the 1980s. Sadly they are no longer with us. (c) Songwrights Publishers Taken from their album they made as part of the band Zeebra, we now offer the single version of Wake the Day. The song produced by Jerry Barnard in Cape Town features Louis on vocals, Brian on keyboards, Jonathan Butler on guitar and Gary Horne on saxophone. The track, which was not a single until now, is edited from restored tapes stored in the Mountain Records archive. It will be available on the 25th February 2022. Following the release of their debut album, 2020's The Unicorns Are Screaming, Cape Town prog-rock duo McCully/Mackay are proud to announce their new single Flowers in the Dirt With this latest release, veteran musicians and long-time collaborators Tully McCully and Gordon Mackay continue to explore and develop their sound. The 70s/80s progressive influences that coloured their debut album are less pronounced, but while  Flowers  expands into more commercial territory it still retains what have become the hallmarks of the duo’s work: a high level of musicality, analogue instruments and sounds, intricate sonic layering and contemplative lyrics focusing on humanity and our place in the world.   One of Bangladesh's best known Folk Rock outfits, Chirkutt, has launched a four single recording project that ties into the visit of singer and songwriter, Sumi's visit to Womex in October this year. The first single has the theme of what inspired her in Switzerland where she was prior to moving on to the world music expo in Porto, Portugal. She has named the song Jajabor . It is about her wandering in the Swiss cities she visited. Canadian jazz singer-songwriter  Janie  Renée,   released her album L'Eden est un bazar  over a year or ago but never got a full digital  release. In the 1980s the late Zayn Adams (Aka. Zayn Adam) had a big radio hit in South Africa (SA) with  You gotta live , a track written and produced by Tully McCully . On request from Mountain Records , Tully has agreed to re-mix the track. We will release it under the name, Count the days (count the nights) which is the chorus hook of the song. The release is slated for the 15th October, 2021.  Digitally remastered and sounding as fresh as the day it was recorded - forty years ago! At what point does one refer to a song as a standard ? Perhaps if after 25 years it is still on the "turntables" of the radio stations?  When a song has been covered by numerous artists? Then Karoonag composed by Coenie de Villiers is a Afrikaans music standard. Reworked artwork from Coenie's debut album, Skoppensboer . It was first recorded (on analog 2-inch tape) in Cape Town by a young engineer, Kevin Shirley and produced by Paddy Lee-Thorp in Spaced Out Sound Studios.  Coenie de Villiers was also the singer and musical arranger.  The track was a bit of a sleeper hit. Not until a follow-up recording of Kring om die Maan got radio attention almost ten years after the release of Karoonag , did fans of Afrikaans music fully discover the gem hidden on his debut album.  Today Karoonag is his most requested song on streaming platforms from Canada to New Zealand, wherever S...

 Terence McCullagh (Tully McCully), who has produced all the  Falling Mirror  albums, has remixed the  Revolver Wolf, a track taken off their  Hystorical  album.  Provisional artwork for single. (c) Songwrights Publishers Falling Mirror  were a somewhat off the wall, one might say cult rock band from Cape Town, South Africa (SA), fronted by singer and co-author of their songs, Nielen Mirror (Marais). The group were mostly a studio outfit that included Nielen's songwriting partner, Allan Faull and drummer, Pat Humphreys, though they did perform live on a few occasions. Tully has beefed up the guitars to make the song into a solid rocker, quite different to the original production. Naturally he has featured guitar player Allan Faull. Allan's solo is a highlight of the new production. The new mix is a little longer than the original.  The single is slated for a 1st of October release.
